My webmaster found out that there’s a pretty interesting Cannabis Science Conference coming up soon. If you’re in the neighborhood (unfortunately, neither he nor I can attend this year), you might consider checking it out; it’s being held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR, from August 27 – 29, 2018. This year the conference is expected to have over 3,000 attendees and 150 vendors from all over the world.
While the conference is hosting a wide array of medical cannabis experts and specialists, their surprise guest will be television and film star Fran Drescher as the plenary speaker. Although best known for her role on the TV show The Nanny, Drescher is also a 17-year uterine cancer survivor and founder of the Cancer Schmancer Movement.
Other speakers and presenters include:
Dr. Ethan Russo, a very well-known contributor to the cannabis literature. With 20 years of experience, Russo is a board-certified neurologist, psychopharmacology researcher, and currently the Director of Research and Development of the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute (ICCI).
David Meiri, PhD, head of the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Cannabinoid Research at the Technion Integrated Cancer Center (TICC). The world renowned doctor will inform attendees on the Science Behind the Entourage Effect and represent Israel’s unique medical cannabis advancements in the International Cannabis Updates panel. Currently, he is investigating the therapeutic potential of phytocannabinoids, with focus on the antitumor effects of cannabinoids.
There will also be a wide range of other speakers in a number of tracks, including Tracy Ryan and Dr. Bonni Goldstein. On August 27th, the show has their Canna Boot Camp, a full day, interactive workshop covering everything from cultivation, extraction, sample prep, analytical testing, edibles manufacturing and more. This event allows industry experts to join forces to demonstrate techniques, instruments, and technologies, and ultimately share their experiences with others in the industry. Tickets for this are limited and can be purchased along with conference and exhibition registration here.
