AVB Pizza Revisited

AVB On Pizza After Heating

About six weeks ago, I talked about one of my old standby favorite edibles, AVB Pizza, in detail. I warned in that article (in bold letters!) that you can feel “surges of highness” four hours later, and last night I proved that beyond the shadow of a doubt. As usual, I try to recreate the experience, or at least the timeline, so here’s what I remember:

  • 4:00 PM: Eat the AVB pizza. It was two small slices, with a light sprinking of lighly-vaped AVB (and hot pepper flakes for taste)
  • 4:45 PM: Right on schedule (I seem to always feel most edibles after 45 minutes on an empty stomach), I start going “up there”, which was about [3.5] or so.
  • 7 PM: I’ve had a very enjoyable time over the last few hours. Happy, but not zonked out. I’ve been writing, editing, and being productive and such.
  • 8:45 PM: I had all but forgotten about the pizza by now, but literally right on the dot of 4 hours after feeling the first effects, I suddenly take off moonwards. I am at a [9] in what seems like seconds. Just like last time, though: no anxiety, just way too high. And, just like last time, I sit down and watch TV and movies and such, because I can’t do much else. At one point I try to get some food, but realize my tummy doesn’t really want to be disturbed and quietly sit back down again.
  • 12:45 AM: Four hours since the extra kick started. I’m still way high, but can finally stand up and even get some food without worrying about problems.

So here’s the thing about AVB Pizza. It works great, at least for me, but is way too flaky and undependable for medical cannabis patient use, since you can’t predict whether you’ll get crazy high…or when!

Old Hippie is a father of two boys and thankfully living in California where all this kind of thing is legal. He started smoking marijuana in 1967 in high school, experimented with mind-expanding drugs of all kinds, and then straightened out 15 or so years later to become an airplane pilot. After being diagnosed with depression in 2000, he lost his job and most of the following decade to prescription medications (such as antidepressants) which sapped his energy and will. Finally, a chance conversation with a friend led to a doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana (MMJ). This changed his entire life, health, and outlook for the better. BeyondChronic.com is his continuing story. It’s also his way to provide experienced advice on using medical marijuana effectively and responsibly, as well as advocacy, activism, and support for others. Old Hippie teaches about safe use of cannabis edibles, Canna Caps, vaporizers, dosing, and even microdosing.
