Paul McCartney Admits Using Dangerous Drug

OK, even we can use a clickbait headline every once in awhile. But we always do it with a higher purpose, which is generally exposing hypocrisy.

In this case, it’s the hypocrisy of celebrated ex-Beatles bassist and songwriter Paul McCartney. Here’s a man who’s accumulated nearly a billion dollars, much of it from his songwriting — which he credits cannabis for helping — and now he claims he’s “setting an example” for his children and grandchildren by not smoking it anymore.

There are just a few problems with this pious rejection of weed. First of all, by his own admission in the Daily Mirror, he actually stopped “a long time ago”…which means this public announcement is merely public relations. Second, he now boasts of having “a glass of red wine or a nice margarita” to replace his previous spliffs. This means he is regularly partaking of ethanol, a drug which many think of as “mostly harmless”, but actually is implicated in over half the violent crime incidents in the UK. In fact, a university study last year found that drinking any amount of alcohol increased the odds of domestic violence, whereas using marijuana did not. I hope his newest wife is listening!

And third…the guy’s 72 years old now. Sometime he’s got to realize that medical cannabis is a senior’s best friend!

Old Hippie is a father of two boys and thankfully living in California where all this kind of thing is legal. He started smoking marijuana in 1967 in high school, experimented with mind-expanding drugs of all kinds, and then straightened out 15 or so years later to become an airplane pilot. After being diagnosed with depression in 2000, he lost his job and most of the following decade to prescription medications (such as antidepressants) which sapped his energy and will. Finally, a chance conversation with a friend led to a doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana (MMJ). This changed his entire life, health, and outlook for the better. BeyondChronic.com is his continuing story. It’s also his way to provide experienced advice on using medical marijuana effectively and responsibly, as well as advocacy, activism, and support for others. Old Hippie teaches about safe use of cannabis edibles, Canna Caps, vaporizers, dosing, and even microdosing.

Almost wants to make me burn my Beatles records…almost. Really Paul? Teach your grand kids to drink alcohol instead? Come on man, get an education already! You should be ashamed! Ye might be gettin old brother, but have ye gone daft too?

Oh really folks, please! Cannabis is helping children avoid death by seizures with no other medication that works, Not to mention helping chemo patients keep food down, and helping with late stage cancer pain. We have got to stop vilifying cannabis as a “hard drug” (This isn’t heroin, for crying out loud) and even doctors are starting to realize that cannabis helps enough, with enough conditions to start lobbying in support of legalization, ranging from the Pediatrics Association, and last week the general AMA is now getting on board. So let’s get our facts straight and stop hanging musicians, actors, et al for using cannabis. It really doesn’t ‘become’ us. It’s hypocritical to drink alcohol, which is a fine analgesic in moderation and proper use, so we call Cannabis a “hard drug”, because? ??? Why do we fail to call alcohol a hard drug anyway, since it KILLS people. Really, very hypocritical.

I don’t care if he smokes or not…..but he’s sending the wrong example, imho. Respected not dissed is more appropriate..
Perhaps he’s “drank the Kool-Aid……and believes the misinformation.

No matter…to each his own….

That news about Paul really got to me. Can’t believe he’s professing the dangers of the evil weed to kids. Cashed in. What a shame. He could do so much more for the planet. and the collective consciousness. I am baffled and bewildered. This is a guy who helped open doors to my soul , having grown up in the sixties and embodied the music and lyrics of the fab four . What happened? Oh well, another one bites the dust. Keep up you beautiful work, Zayne
