I’ve been working on a new cooking article that you’re all going to love, but I noticed a bunch of posts on /r/saplings from people concerned over whether they’re getting as much weed as they paid for. So as a public service, I thought I’d provide this photographic mini-guide to what an eighth ounce (3.5 grams) of properly cured marijuana looks like.
If you’re wondering how the scale shows 3.6 grams when there’s a 14.5 gram container on it, it’s because I used the tare function available on most decent scales. Keep your dealer honest and use a scale!
These don’t seem to be very conclusive ways of eyeballing, and why would you want to show us on a scale, doesn’t that defeat the purpose? I’ve always just put it in a fold over sandwich bag in the corner, it should be roughly the size a large strawberry; and this is pretty true regardless of being fluffy or dense if you give the bag a twist and compress it to the corner a little. I’ve been able to get within a point multiple times, and if you need less then just imagine half of the strawberry and that should be around 1.75
I showed you on a scale so you could see it was legit. Feel free to use any method you like to estimate, but when they release a standard “large strawberry” I hope they’ll let me know 🙂
I just literally laughed out loud at the standard “large strawberry” comment. I was thinking the same thing when I read his post. What if I live in an area where strawberries are inherently smaller? I’d be screwed! Ha! At least a quarter (the coin) will likely never change size. Thanks for the great post…

Very useful. I buy from this guy who’s unreliable when it comes to weed quantity, and it appears my seller is cheapin’ out on me. I can’t believe I haven’t found this site before, but it looks pretty awesome.
Thank you for the post, I don’t want to be cheated, now i can eyeball my purchase. i want to rant a little about a problem I’m having with the legalization of marijuana, I’m happy that it’s coming to pass, but it’s expensive!!! it cost me $45.00 for state I.D, it cost me $100.00 for the Authorization Card, and now I still have to pay for the weed, it’s $10.00 a gram. I gotta be rich to chill out, and my connections have dried up due to the competition with the dispensaries, kinda miss the old days of cash and carry. Thanks for listening.

“Large strawberry “? Are ya joking? That’s like saying I can try a bra on before I order it online. “Well this one seems like it may fit”. You can’t look at the picture with the quarter coin and add more quaters?
