Guest Editorial: On Willie Nelson (by dawyd1)

(Old Hippie notes: dawyd1 made this commENT in response to this posting about Willie Nelson’s latest pot bust, and I was so impressed with how he said it that I am using it here, with his permission of course)

Let me get this right? Willie Nelson an american Icon has been smoking marijuana for at least 50 of the 77 (just a guess) years that he has been on this earth, is still touring, still a functional member of society and marijuana is somehow bad for you? Some how the Feds that busted him think they are doing a great service to the nation by taking Willie’s weed from him. How can people think like that? What possesses a man to think he has the right to tell someone, that is not bothering anybody, on the contrary he is entertaining hundreds of thousands of people every year that he can’t do something that isn’t hurting anybody?

I am a veteran who really loves this country and have spent as much time protecting our rights as I have spent exercising them, and this kind of shit really pisses me off. God Damn this is so weak. I am not so much pissed that this happened to Willie(he can afford it) but that is happens at all. For people like you and I who like to smoke a bit in the evenings not hurting anybody, and would not have been able to post bail that same day.

The only risk with marijuana is (from my 15 years as an ent) the interaction with suppliers and the police.

Old Hippie is a father of two boys and thankfully living in California where all this kind of thing is legal. He started smoking marijuana in 1967 in high school, experimented with mind-expanding drugs of all kinds, and then straightened out 15 or so years later to become an airplane pilot. After being diagnosed with depression in 2000, he lost his job and most of the following decade to prescription medications (such as antidepressants) which sapped his energy and will. Finally, a chance conversation with a friend led to a doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana (MMJ). This changed his entire life, health, and outlook for the better. BeyondChronic.com is his continuing story. It’s also his way to provide experienced advice on using medical marijuana effectively and responsibly, as well as advocacy, activism, and support for others. Old Hippie teaches about safe use of cannabis edibles, Canna Caps, vaporizers, dosing, and even microdosing.
