How To Roll A Joint Sixties Style

No machines. No “filters”. No “crutches”. No bullshit!

Just rolling paper, weed…and a double album!

In the video, I show how to use two rolling papers stuck together to make it easier to roll a joint, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be smoking better with just one (better weed to paper ratio and all that). Back then, we rolled them skinny, because “fatties” tended to have everything fall out unless you were an expert.

This actually works out better with today’s high THC cannabis, because it’s kind of wasteful to roll a huge joint if you’re gonna get blasted to the moon on just 2 or 3 tokes anyway. Back then we had like 5% THC (or maybe it was 3.2% like near-beer) so we had to smoke a good few joints among 3 or 4 people for anything to happen!

And for those tuning in for the first time, yes, I know that smoking is about the least healthy way to consume cannabis so that’s why I’ve been teaching folks all about vaporizers from the beginning! Personally, I rarely smoke any more myself, but some of my buddies on /r/saplings asked nicely so I made this video for them.

Old Hippie is a father of two boys and thankfully living in California where all this kind of thing is legal. He started smoking marijuana in 1967 in high school, experimented with mind-expanding drugs of all kinds, and then straightened out 15 or so years later to become an airplane pilot. After being diagnosed with depression in 2000, he lost his job and most of the following decade to prescription medications (such as antidepressants) which sapped his energy and will. Finally, a chance conversation with a friend led to a doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana (MMJ). This changed his entire life, health, and outlook for the better. BeyondChronic.com is his continuing story. It’s also his way to provide experienced advice on using medical marijuana effectively and responsibly, as well as advocacy, activism, and support for others. Old Hippie teaches about safe use of cannabis edibles, Canna Caps, vaporizers, dosing, and even microdosing.

Ha ha you haven’t done that in awhile have you? I’m not making fun, I haven’t rolled a joint since the 70’s. I’m a vaporizer fan also. I own several! Great album pick man! I saw the seed roll out of your container just as you were making the comment about the old days. I almost blew my tea all over the iPad! A little hermie action there. It happens.
So, for the record, 🙂 I used to turn the album sideways and prop the further side up a bit and let the seeds roll to the center as we swept up through the weed with the rolling paper pack. Make sense? Maybe it’s an east coast thing? I dunno.
Anyways, nice to have you back. I haven’t been getting email notifications about your posts for some time. This is the second one in a row. Whatever they did to fix your site must have fixed that too.
If you’re taking requests I would love to see more on the MBM. Are you still using it, and do you find it superior to other methods?
Have a great day OH!

I thought I mentioned the seed rolling thing in the center, but I forgot about the rolling paper pack trick! And yes, I grew up in NYC myself.

I def have some great MBM content planned, we’ve been learning lots of other tricks with it. The whole package is easily worth it for most people based on convenience and improved efficiency/yield, but don’t feel obligated to buy it if you already know what you’re doing and have a good process 🙂 Nugs and hugs!

Thanks. I was really curious after seeing this method featured in an episode of “F is for family” a Netflix cartoon (French animated) about the 70’s. Three teenage boys are under a bridge and use a double lp for rolling a joint but it is not clearly demonstrated (maybe for fear of censorship).

After, the main caracter trips about what the lp he brought makes him think about : the days when he got along easier with his parents. Eventually, they get busted by cops and have to scatter.
